As a core tool in TCM teaching and clinical practice, the application value of 14-channel model in acupuncture treatment cannot be ignored. However, whether it can provide sufficient theoretical basis for acupuncture treatment is still a question worth pondering.

1.  Clinical significance

Fourteen meridian point model is helpful to understand and master the meridians system of human body, especially the precise positioning of each meridian point in acupuncture treatment. Through the model, clinicians can select and stimulate meridians more accurately in actual operation, so as to achieve the effect of regulating qi and blood and dredging meridians. In acupuncture treatment, the accuracy of the theoretical basis is crucial, the model helps the doctor to clarify the direction of the meridians and the role of acupuncture points, to ensure the effectiveness and safety of acupuncture treatment.

However, the limitation of the fourteen meridian point model is that it is mainly based on the static structure display of traditional anatomy, and lacks the dynamic response to the changes of meridians in different pathological states.
